My Concept of the Ultimate Wheel

Another day with wheels (and so on).
I built a wheel using ENVE 1-45 tubular rim.

CX-RAY spokes,

Semi-competition build.
I plan to do lacing eventually.
I'm doing several at once, so it's not laced in this state.

The order was "what Nomu Lab considers the ultimate hand-built wheel,"
and this is my current answer.
If I were to prioritize lightness, I could make the rear wheel fully CX-RAY,
adjust spoke tension depending on the rider,
swap the hub to Dura-Ace (this wheel has a Tni hub),
change the front to radial lacing or full four-cross,
"Ultimate" might mean different things depending on preferences, so there are fine variations,
but if we're building with the ENVE 1-45 rim, this is the optimal solution I've arrived at.

"The best wheel at X price range" as a categorization (and sales pitch)
becomes increasingly disadvantageous for hand-built wheels as price goes up
— that's my view,
but thanks to this rim, carbon tubular wheels at around 200,000 yen retail
might actually surpass complete wheels, even when hand-built.
