Grateful Words

Inside Tengachaya Station on the Osaka Metro (formerly Osaka City Subway), there's a notice posted with the following text written in English.
proverbs1amx14.jpg
↑This is it.
Use the steps (of God's teachings)
to proceed on the right (moral) path

It's a proverb like this.
The "steps" here is read as "kizahashi."
The word "use" doesn't mean "to use" in the simple sense, but rather "to utilize" or "to make the most of,"
and "right" doesn't mean the direction, but rather "correct" or "righteous."
The source of this saying is unclear, but it may be a quotation from the Bible or
some similar scripture.
Right next to it, there's a Japanese translation posted as well.

This is clearly a mistranslation.
