Another wheel day (and so on...).

A customer brought in the front wheel from their Nomu Lab Wheel #5.

It got hit by a mama-chari and the rim is bent like a potato chip,
plus there's also buckling damage.
The hub is an Evolite, and because of wear in the brake zone,
the rim's already been replaced once before.
So this rim's been through about 10,000 km of use,
and the hub's at around 38,000 km.
The rim obviously needs replacing, but at 10,000 km,
it's best practice to swap the aluminum nipples too.
Plus the hub bearings have gotten pretty rough,
and when you factor in the bearing parts cost and labor,
it's not much different in price to just get a new front hub altogether,
so we decided to replace the hub as well.
Which means the only parts we're inheriting from the original wheel
are the spokes.
Though to be fair, it's not about individual spokes—
when you look at it by category: 20 spokes, 20 nipples, 1 rim, 1 hub,
in this wheel's case, the spokes are actually the single most expensive component.
The black CX-RAY rim (10-spoke equivalent) and
black CX-RAY hub (13-spoke equivalent) are about on par value-wise.

Built it up.

660 hub, 20H, black CX-RAY outpoke radial laced.
The original wheel had all gold aluminum nipples,
but after the rebuild, the base is black aluminum nipples
with turquoise nipples just on either side of the valve hole.
This was a change to match the fact that the customer's
frame set for this wheel is changing.
