Another wheel day (and so on).

I built a disc brake rear wheel with Tni's SUB1 rim.

Revo disc hub, 24-hole, half-comp 46-spoke laced
with rainbow-colored (VAS pattern) nipples.
I'll tension the spokes later.
SUB1 (Sub One) means
the wheel comes in under 1kg when assembled,
but for rim brake complete wheels
the stated weight is 910±20g,
and for disc brake complete wheels
the stated weight is 960±20g.
The rim that was once sold individually
came in 20H, 24H, and 28H hole counts
with a stated weight of 235±15g,
but complete wheels have
rim brake versions at 18H front and 24H rear,
and disc brake versions at 21H front and rear for 2:1 lacing,
so the only rim matching the old individual-sale specs
is the rear rim for rim brake versions.
I said "once" but
I'm not entirely sure if it's completely discontinued.
At our shop we started building wheels from July 2022
using our stockpiled rims,
and at that time the distributor told us
"it's spot production, so we don't know if there will be another run"
and "even if there is another run, there's no way we can keep the same price."
There's one more important thing.
"So-called lightweight 'trick' parts (←you don't hear that term much anymore)
tend to get heavier after the initial batch."
At first the actual measured weight was less than the stated weight,
but eventually it approaches the upper limit,
and in the end it doesn't even come close... I've seen this happen
more times than I can count.
So the trick with this kind of part is to secure it early.
After both the individual-sale rim and the rim brake complete wheel sold out,
at a customer's request
I also rebuilt a rear wheel from remaining disc brake complete wheel stock
with a rim brake Racing 3 hub
(→here).

↑front wheel

↑rear wheel
Both wheels together come to 1039g.
If the rear hub were all CX-RAY,
whether we could achieve Sub One depends on going full CX-RAY front and rear.
If I switched the rear hub to an LW Super, it would be about 70g lighter,
and with straight spokes there's no comp option,
so I'd go with CX Sprint and Sub One would be a sure thing,
but since I don't just want a wheel that's light to hold,
I'm doing asymmetrical lacing knowing the name doesn't quite match.
I can report on whether the wheel achieves Sub One or not,
but I have no intention of revealing the rim's individual weight.
↑oh this guy seems to only look at the total weight of custom-built wheels
and doesn't want to deal with people who buy that way
which kind of rubs me wrong

Sorry for the wait! Please take a look at this image!

Total weight of both rims!

Since one is 20H and one is 24H, the spacing
from the valve hole to the adjacent rim hole is different!

20H rim!

24H rim!
↑Stop it!
