Eurash Front Wheel

A customer dropped off a Eurash front wheel for repairs.

About a month ago, it fell into a drainage groove and got damage on 5 spokes across both sides.
The customer kept using it as-is,
but the other day, a spoke suddenly broke off.

↑In the 5 consecutive spokes in the image,
the 2nd and 4th spokes from the left have damage,
and the 4th one is broken
(you can't tell it's broken because
the fracture surfaces are lined up).

↑Flipping the wheel over,
showing spokes 5, 3, and 1.
From this angle you can see the 4th spoke is broken.

There were impact marks on the rim sidewall too,
but nothing deep enough to affect braking.
I'm replacing not just the broke spoke,
but all 4 remaining damaged spokes as well.

Fixed.

Since a spoke was broken, I didn't check the temporary centerline,
but after replacing the spoke and completing the wheel truing,
when I first applied the centering gauge,
it was dead center.
This front wheel has no service history at our shop,
but it was probably centered perfectly from the factory.

Not in the same order as the original 5 consecutive ones.
The broken spoke is at the bottom of the image.

Pretty severe scoring damage.

The broken spoke has a fracture surface that looks twisted,
so when you line it up straight, the fracture surfaces don't match.

I flipped the same spoke over.
Since the fracture surface is twisted,
there are places where the aluminum's silver color is visible on both sides.

When I gently twisted the fracture surfaces together,
there was a point where they fit perfectly.

The reason the customer brought it to our shop was
that we seemed to have spokes in stock,
and when a nearby shop fixed a different wheel,
they were forced to buy more spokes from their supplier
than what was actually needed for the repair
because of the supplier's minimum order quantities.
