Rebuilt the rear wheel on the ARC1400 DICUT DB 62

A customer dropped off a DT ARC1400 rear wheel with me.

To be precise, it's the ARC 1400 DICUT DB model,
and specifically the one with a 62mm rim height
out of the 50mm, 62mm, and 80mm options available.
I'll write about DT's wheel naming conventions
in the next post.
The higher-end 1100 model uses Aerolite II spokes,
which are even thinner than regular Aerolite,
but Aerolite II is currently exclusive to the 1100-grade
complete wheel and isn't sold as a general item.
In other words, it's a wheel that's hard to repair.
The 1400 uses Aero Comp instead, not Aerolite.

As I've written before,
the fact that Sapim releases the CX Sprint as a general product
is probably thanks to ZIPP.

Similarly, Corima, another carbon rim authority,
uses Sapim spokes,
but they only differentiate between CX and CX-RAY.
By differentiation here, I mean
left-right different-diameter lacing on a single wheel.

Because ZIPP did a massive bulk order saying
"Make us an aero spoke that's thicker than CX-RAY
but small enough to fit through the flange holes,"
we were able to benefit from the overflow,
even if it's not an exclusive contract.
However, ZIPP's differentiation between CX Sprint models is
all CX-RAY for the higher-end models, all CX Sprint for the lower-end,
which is just "added weight to make the upper models look lighter,"
and they only build wheels with left-right same-diameter lacing.
The same goes for DT's 1100 with all Aerolite II
and the 1400 with all Aero Comp.

UPDATE:
The ARC1100 rear wheel isn't all Aerolite II,
but rather left-right different-diameter lacing of Aero Comp II and Aerolite II.

The front wheel that pairs with this rear wheel
had no particular issues, so I just did an inspection.
I didn't take photos, but there was some centering offset.
The rear wheel wobbles a bit on high-speed descents,
so the customer wanted it rebuilt.

A 240 straight-spoke hub,
or more precisely, a hub dedicated to DICUT spokes.
The spoke lateral positions aren't quite the same—there's a subtle difference—
but because the inner spokes end up on the outside at the final cross, they're laced that way.

Since I'm rebuilding it anyway, it doesn't really matter,
but there was some centering offset.
The front wheel had about twice as much offset.

By intentionally revealing the rim weight,
I suppress the appearance of that guy.
If there's no information to leak, he won't show up.
