Rebuilt the front wheel of a 303 Firecrest

Another day, another wheel (and so on).

A customer left me with the front wheel of a ZIPP 303 Firecrest.
I rebuilt the rear wheel a while back,
and now the front wheel needs rebuilding too.
The image above is shot from the right side of the wheel,

↑and from the left side it looks like this

ZR1 hub, 24H, all-black CX Sprint rim
built 44 reverse Italian laced
The spokes are the same as the 303S,
but the nipples differ—the 303S uses brass,
while the 303 Firecrest has aluminum nipples.

Rebuilt.

ZR1 hub, 24H, black-half CX Sprint rim
built 64 reverse Italian laced with cross-lacing.
For the rear wheel I went with DT's gold aluminum nipples,
but the customer wanted black nipples on the front,
so I just reused the original ones.

The 303 Firecrest differs from the 303S quite a bit
in rim weight. When I push on the rim sidewall with my finger,
the 303S barely gives at all,
but the 303 Firecrest deflects noticeably—fairly squishy.
When building the wheel, the 303 Firecrest
needs slightly higher tension to stay true,
so I had to use the tension meter on the spokes much more frequently.
Building two different-generation ZIPP rims back-to-back
made the difference in feel during building really obvious.

I did measure the rim weights,
but of course I'm not telling anyone.
There's an image my buddy exposed online from the rear wheel build,
so if someone really wants to know,
they can go dig that up themselves.
↑man, that's pretty cold

Sorry for the wait!

By the way, these images are definitely NOT
the same as the ones from yesterday!
Moving on from that...
