Re-laced the CL50 front wheel that was re-laced

Today it's wheels again (et cetera).

A customer brought in a CL50 front wheel.

It's CL, not CLX

At another shop, it was re-laced from DT Competé Race
to Sapim CX-RAY on both sides,
and given they went to all that trouble,
they tensioned it as much as possible.
There was no centering deviation.

When I gripped the final cross, there was indeed some rubbing marks.

Regarding the Rapide CLX rear wheel from yesterday
where the wear was severe,
I asked the customer and they said they were the original owner
and had only ridden around 7000 km.

The original CL was built with brass nipples,
but many of the outer hex gripping surfaces were stripped.
The nipple in the image above is from
most of the other nipples that I fully loosened
and removed from the rim while still inside its cavity.

Since there are no traces of sealant around the rim's bead hook or inside the rim cavity,
the corrosion was caused by moisture that entered inside the rim.
This rim has drainage holes on the sidewall,
but moisture can also enter through those holes, so
you might think no holes would be better,
but without them water enters slowly and
once water does get in, it never fully drains out, so
I think drainage holes are actually better to have.

The spokes are not CLX spare spokes (DT Aero Lite) that I ordered,
but rather CX-RAY Straight spokes that I modified.

Built.
I'm using DT 12mm aluminum black nipples.

The right side is CX Sprint.
I'll handle the lacing later.

The spokes that were provided when I received the wheel
were same-diameter CX-RAY on both sides,
tensioned with considerable effort—
I forgot to photograph it, but
matching the spoke tension from the original multi-spoke side (left) tangent lacing,
the rim shifted about 2mm to the right,
so to achieve wheel centering from there,
the bonus from being able to unilaterally tension the left side spokes
is what was gained by using the opposite-diameter, crossed build pattern.
