A customer asked me to "convert their road bike from a single front chainring back to a double front chainring,
and while you're at it, swap out the SRAM mechanical shifters
for eTap shifters."
So I have their bike in the shop for component swapping work.
This might be part of a front double comeback movement.
The reason I say "part of" is because there are other bikes
that I've converted to single front chainring setups.

When I took it in, the front derailleur braze-on was already removed.

If the mechanical shifter is SRAM or Campagnolo,
you can remove the internals from the left shifter and restore it later, so
all of my single front chainring bikes
are set up that way,
but this bike has the mechanical left shifter still installed with its internals intact.

I installed the front derailleur braze-on that was brought in.
Since the bolt hole spacing doesn't match, I'm just
loosely tightening the upper bolt.

This is the front derailleur braze-on from the other single front chainring conversion bike.
This frame's braze-on
wasn't among the parts that were brought in.
Argh, what a mess.

I've installed the front derailleur.
It looks like this was previously mounted on a SRAM-brand FD band clamp,
and the curved washer for the front derailleur
that's normally included isn't here, so I'm just
installing it loosely too.

The work isn't progressing because of circumstances beyond my control.
Well, time to build some wheels now.
