Another day with wheels (and so on).

A customer brought in the front and rear wheels
from a Shimano WH-RS700.
Today I'm working on the front wheel,
and they want silver spokes.

The black spokes don't have any
damage or peeling on their coating.

The manufacturing date sticker shows QI,
so this is from September 2018.

↑This is a different job, but it's a WH-R9100,
the previous generation Dura-Ace front wheel.

The manufacturing date is PJ, so October 2017—
around the same generation as today's wheel,
but

the spoke coating is peeling off.
Shimano wheel spokes have pretty low
quality in this regard, so switching to
silver spokes might actually be a good move
for that reason too.

Built it up.

I used silver CX Sprint spokes.
With a 16-hole front wheel on a low-profile rim,
if you drop the spoke weight too much
you end up with a crappy wheel.
