Rebuilt the front wheel with Open Pro rim

Today it's wheels again (and so on).

A customer brought in a front wheel built with a Mavic Open Pro rim for repair work.

HB-7700 32H stainless steel #15 plain spokes
60/60 JIS lacing with brass nipples.

When looking at the wheel from the side,
if we consider the right side to be where
the rim label reads correctly,

the hub shell orientation is reversed.
If we orient it correctly,
the rim label would be upside down.

But on the matching rear wheel, the rim orientation
is correct,
so there's no consistency between front and rear.
The rear wheel also has questionable
construction choices,
but I'll write about that another time.

The spoke tension is a bit loose,
but it's above the minimum threshold for a functional wheel.
Both front and rear are perfectly centered
and properly built.
So I'll give it credit for that.
Examples that deserve no consideration at all are (here)

The customer's request for the rebuild was
either an 8-spoke lacing with CX-RAY spokes
or, if that wasn't possible, a 6-spoke lacing.
I thought, wow, this customer has taste—
they really know what they're doing.
But it turned out they'd just been poisoned by reading this blog.

It's built.

32H all CX-RAY 8/8 Italian lacing
with silver aluminum nipples.
I don't usually bother noting silver aluminum nipples,
but since the originals were brass, I mentioned it.

The spoke butts do touch the spoke head,
but that should be fine.
If it had small flanges like an Evolight hub,
I would have gone with 60/60 lacing instead.
