Another day, another wheel (and so on).

A customer (loosely speaking)
brought in the front wheel of a Rovale C38.
They figured it was probably a crappy wheel
and wanted me to rebuild it.
This customer (loosely speaking) wasn't
the original owner of this wheel,
and apparently has never ridden it.
I really would've preferred they use it a bit first
before bringing it in—
I wanted them to actually feel the transformation that a rebuild makes.

DT 370 hub, 24H, all-black Campagnolo Race
Zero-four lacing.
Even in the 2020s, I'm amazed someone would use equal spokes on both sides
with radial lacing on one side.

I cut out the spokes for disposal,
but I loosened the tension somewhat
to avoid damaging the rim holes.
In the photo above, you can see how the outpoke radial spokes
changed their bend at the butted section transition—
I thought that was interesting, so I captured it.

Built it up.

DT 370 hub, 24H, semi-CX Sprint
Six-four reverse Italian lacing.
Originally we were going to do silver spokes with silver nipples,
but once I showed them the rainbow-colored (VAS) nipple arrangement,
they asked me to go with the rainbow instead.
