Cinelli Super Corsa SLX

Well, since the shop isn't open yet, I might as well write about some personal stuff.

One of the actual bikes used by Bernard Hinault when he won the Tour five times with the La Vie Claire team in 1985 is housed at Japan's Bicycle Culture Center, and

↑I think this bike is absolutely stunning.
This is an Hinault-branded bike, but the frame was built by Alan Decroux, who was La Vie Claire's mechanic and Hinault's personal coach, so it's not a production model.

↑My own bike, a Cinelli Super Corsa in a similar color and built with roughly the same component spec.

The frame tubes are Columbus SLX, and of course the rear hub's over-locknut dimension is 126mm.

Hinault used a Rolls saddle, so I've gone with that too.
I have several Hinault Turbo saddles as well, but I wanted to keep this bike close to the spec of Hinault's original, so I'm using the Rolls. There's actually a lot I could say about the Turbo, but I'll save that for another day since this is getting long.
Since we're talking Cinelli and SLX, I also have a Cinelli Volare SLX on hand, which would be an option, but here I've gone with the Rolls.

These are Campagnolo Super Record brake calipers with spoon levers, and you can still get brake shoes for them from Campagnolo even today.
They're probably the oldest small parts still in production.
I wish the amber-colored pads for the levers were in stable supply too.

This is my own quirk and deviates from Hinault's spec, but I've fitted SYNT shoes only on the rear.

I'm a bit frustrated that the term "Super Record" no longer necessarily refers to this groupset specifically, but there's nothing to be done about it.
These days, saying "Super Record 12-speed" could make people think the rear has 12 cogs.
(This bike has a 7-speed rear)

Look's first model, the PP65, comes in early and late versions. This is the early type with the original logo and coin slot screws.
The late version has the current Look logo, and the tension adjustment screws are also Allen key type.

The seatpost is Record, not Super Record.
Super Record has a single-bolt yoke, but this is double-bolt, so the saddle clamp is more secure. The satin finish on the yoke is the same either way.
Both Selle Italia and Sella San Marco started stamping manufacturing dates on the underside of their saddles around 1985 or so.
Some of my older Selle Italia RS and Sella San Marco Concor saddles predate that practice.

The one on the Super Corsa is actually a '92 model, so it's anachronistic in terms of historical accuracy.
I do have an '85 model, but there's something I like about the '92, so even though it doesn't match the era, I use it.

For the rear derailleur, I should really be using the parallelogram-type one I have on hand, but I'm partial to the "Nuovo Record + black both sides + titanium pivot" Super Record.
The other Super Record I have is aluminum pivot.

↑Left is aluminum pivot, right is titanium pivot.
