A customer brought in a Ksyrium 110 for me to work on.
Mavic was founded in 1889, so the Ksyrium they released in their 110th year is called
the "Ksyrium 110". . . Just kidding.
It's the original Ksyrium that debuted in 1999.
↑One spoke on the front wheel is bent.
The customer isn't the original owner, but
it's been bent since he acquired it.
A bent spoke traces out the shortest path between the two points of the bend,
so in simple terms the spoke is effectively shorter in that section,
which affects how the wheel behaves.
This wheel didn't have any major runout though.
Someone had re-trued it while the spoke was already bent.
So after replacing the spoke with a new one, the work became less about true-ing the wheel
and more about undoing the adjustments that were made to accommodate the bent spoke.
I replaced the spoke.
The only thing I had on hand was a silver spoke.
↑Once I released the tension, the bend was this pronounced.
Rather than use this again, even a different color spoke would be fine—
I had no choice but to replace it with a new spoke.
