A customer brought in a Shamal Ultra (Campagnolo high-end wheel) for service.

The customer is the original owner of this wheel,
and claimed they'd never had any truing work done on it.
That seemed unlikely to me,
so I pressed them a bit and asked about its history.
There were fine lateral runout issues scattered all over,
which I can straighten out one by one,
but the centering is off on both wheels—
especially the front wheel, which is way off (more than the thickness of a 1-yen coin).
Campagnolo complete wheels never ship in this kind of condition.
Only Mavic rear wheels typically drift this far out.
So someone who didn't know how to use a centering gauge
must have gone around doing lateral truing adjustments everywhere.
When I asked more details, it turned out
they'd had the front wheel spokes replaced once in the past.
That's definitely when it got knocked out of true.
When the offset is this severe, the direction of spoke tension adjustment becomes very clear,
which actually makes the job easier to work on.
