I received an R-SYS SLR from a customer.
Both front and rear wheels had lateral runout.
Today I'm working on the one with the cartridge bearing hub.
This front hub has had detectable play in it since it was new—you can feel it by hand—
but when the quick-release is properly tightened and you're riding, the play isn't noticeable.
When it does become noticeable, there's no way to adjust the bearing play, so
at that point the only option is to replace the bearings.
With R-SYS rear wheels, when there's lateral runout,
the rim is usually offset in this direction (toward the freewheel side),
and I have my own theory about why that happens (I'll write about it sometime).
Recently, for runout of this magnitude I was handling it by just tightening the freewheel side
without removing the lock ring,
but today the freewheel side was pretty tight, so I also needed to loosen the non-freewheel side,
which meant I had to remove the lock ring.
