Shamal Ultra

A customer brought in a Shamal Ultra wheel for repair.

They crashed and said the wheel has severe runout.

There's a scrape-like mark inside the "H" of SHAMAL,
and there's also a dent.
The customer was already aware of this, but

When I removed the tire and inspected it,
the bead hook between the "A" and "M" of SHAMAL was dented inward.
You can even see it in the image above by how the braking zone reflects light.

↑That's the spot.

I worked pretty hard to straighten it out.
With a 2WAY-FIT rim, there's a possibility you couldn't use tubeless tires anymore,
but since this is a WO rim, there's no problem.
There was lateral runout in various places, but partway through the repair, the "most bent section"
shifted to a phase other than the two dented areas,
so this might be right at the limit of what can be called "fixed"
without replacing the rim.

After the repair, I mounted the tire and tested the braking on my own bike,
and the dents are now barely noticeable,
so I think it's still usable.
