The spokes on the freewheel side were severely bent.

These are both images from work I did recently, but
with Campagnolo's "Mega G3" and earlier models, when replacing spokes on the freewheel side,
you have to first remove the spokes on the opposite side.
In this case too, to replace 3 spokes I ended up loosening 4 nipples.
