Today's another day with wheels (and so on).

A customer left me a PowerTap hub rear wheel to work on.

This is one I built in the past.
A bit unusual — a PRO hub 32H with half-competition lacing and wiring installed,
but the tire burst while on a stationary trainer and they crashed,
resulting in severe wheel trueness issues.
I attempted to true it, but the rim is clearly bent.
Or rather, it's warped in places.
The burst impact seems to be the main culprit, and falling off the stationary trainer
doesn't seem to have been much of a factor.
There's no choice but to replace the rim,
and the customer wants it rebuilt with an Ōpen Pro tubular rim,
so that's what we'll do.
I disassembled the wheel, and sure enough, the rim was bent.

It's an Ōpen Pro tubular rim.
Among the DT nipples, unusually some had a black anodized defect mixed in,
so I rejected those.
I see this kind of defect often with Sapim nipples (→here).
It's not failed black nipple plating, but rather appearing mixed among silver nipples,
and the color application pattern is almost identical,
so I wonder if similar manufacturing processes result in the same mistakes.

Got it built.

Since I couldn't source CX-RAY spokes in the length needed for 48-spoke lacing,
I did it as half-competition 46-spoke lacing with wiring instead.

This hub is called the PRO model,
but it's essentially the older PowerTap hub shell
with the newer G3 internals installed inside.
