Various Campagnolo Spare Parts Have Arrived in Stock

Campagnolo spare parts have arrived in stock!

First, the valve bushings for Bora and Bullet have transitioned from the old two-prong type to a pipe type.
The part number as a spare part hasn't changed,
so I can't specifically order the old two-prong type anymore.

Changing the spec without changing the part number
is a clear sign they want to pretend the old type "never existed."
The two-prong type requires some technique to install, so
sometimes the valve goes flying and gets lost when passing it through,
and some people remove it because the valve won't pass at all—
but this is actually a fairly important functional component, not something you can do without.

It's not something I need every day,
but it happened that I needed it three days in a row recently,
and I could only handle the first request,
so this time I've stocked a decent quantity to make sure I don't run out again.

If the valve won't pass with the two-prong type, modifying it helps quite a bit

The second-generation Ergopower lever in its current form
happened to be needed for repairs on two right 10-speed units, so I ordered them.
The part number is EC-RE200.
EC stands for Ergopower, and RE stands for Record.

In the old days you could buy internal parts individually—a single gear, a single spring—but
now they only sell the lever bracket assembly as a complete unit.
The configuration is everything "except" these four items: the brake lever, brake lever fixing pin,
bracket cover, and handlebar band.

There's not much point in scavenging parts from a broken Ergopower.
The wear points that cause sluggish shifting and cable slip are all the same anyway.
I do keep some old stock of just those wear parts (discontinued items), but
since this customer is from far away, I decided to do a full replacement with a clear conscience.

The difference is whether the shift lever (Campagnolo calls it the B-lever internally)
has carbon fiber bonded to it or not.

I transferred over the four parts not included with the EC-RE200.
The area marked "10 ULTRA" has various variations depending on the era and grade,
but on the second-generation rear shift lever, if it's 10-speed, the cable pull is the same.
The front shift lever must match the specifications of the front derailleur.

Now, the left bracket to pair with the EC-RE200 and its internal parts are listed
as EC-RE210 in both the paper catalog and its web version,
but the correct number is EC-RE201.
The spare parts price list is correct,

I've also restocked spokes. For steel spoke models,
I try to keep Zonda, Bora 50, and Bora 35 pretty much always in stock.
Campagnolo and Fulcrum spokes come in either flat envelope-style packaging or boxes,
and I organize them into the box format.
It's odd that the boxes come in two different lengths.

Most models use the same spoke for the front and rear-left, with
a different one for the rear-right, for a total of two types,
but Zonda doesn't share spokes between front (284mm) and rear-left (281.5mm).
The spoke length source is the manufacturer's stated specifications, not my own measurements,
but I was given printed documents from the shadowy organization,
so I'm not sure if these are generally available.

The rear-right spoke head end is unmodified,
but the front and rear-left have a flattened anti-rotation mark (shown above),
and if you cut front or rear-left spokes with a spoke cutter,
the thread length and other dimensions on the plain section are no problem,
so if you have a spoke cutter, you could stock just the front and rear-right for Zonda.
But writing things like this sometimes brings complaints from the aforementioned shadowy organization.
The ZOC at the end of the spoke part number means ZO (Zonda) C (Clincher).
If Zonda ever came in a tubular version with different spoke length,
they'd presumably use the ZOT part number instead.
More likely they'd design the tubular rim to be compatible with the clincher spoke length anyway.

Next, the Bora 50 (late model with external nipple setup)
rear-right spoke WH-0019BOT50.
Why are the box lengths different for the same spoke?
Following the pattern from before, BOT in the part number means BO (Bora) T (Tubular),
but the tubular came out first which is why it ends in T,
and Bora's spoke length doesn't change between tubular and clincher.
Same with Bora Ultra and Bora One.
Since the front and rear-left are shared, there are two spoke lengths combined with the rear-right.
Bora 50 and Bora 35 naturally have different spoke lengths,
but given the above, current Bora can be serviced with just
four spoke types: 50 front and rear-left, 50 rear-right, 35 front and rear-left, and 35 rear-right.

Now for Bora 50 WH-0016BOT50—
I had stock in different packaging formats so I'm consolidating into boxes,
but wait a minute, the image above shows the exact same part number
with the envelope marked as rear-right and the box as rear-left. That doesn't make sense!
The rear-left is shared with the front, and
since 0019BOT50 was listed as rear-right earlier,
there's no way 0016BOT50 could be the rear-right.
The actual spokes inside are exactly the same length,
so the envelope packaging label is wrong.

According to the price list,
0016BOT50 is front/rear-right (image above)
0019BOT50 is rear-left,
but front and rear-right being shared is impossible, so
this is definitely wrong.
Which means Bora 50's spoke part numbers are:

Ugh, so confusing!
Looking at the wrong packaging, someone might think
"rear-left is running low, let me restock 0019BOT50 (which is actually rear-right)"
so I make sure the labels on the boxes I organize are
always definitely correct.

I also checked the front wheel while I was at it—
it has virtually no runout and the centering is spot-on, so no problems there.

Next item.
Another customer left me a Bora Ultra 50 Clincher Dark Label wheel.
They mentioned the brakes had uneven feel, wondering if it was the wheel wobbling,
but there's no runout significant enough to affect brake feel,
and the front wheel I examined turned out to be the one with actual runout.

The brake zone has the latest AC3 treatment,
but the brake shoe marks on just the non-freewheel side opposite the valve hole
are cut off in a square pattern
(smooth and continuous all the way around on the freewheel side),
so maybe the rim is slightly low just in that area.
In any case, there's zero lateral runout.
