Shamal Ultra 2WAY-FIT Dark Label

I received a Shamal Ultra rear wheel from a customer.

There was virtually no runout. There was just the slightest amount of centering drift, which I corrected.
But the real issue this time wasn't that—

It's that the wheel had run over something like a nail, creating a hole on the outer edge of the rim.
The fact that there's no lateral runout or rim bulging resulting from this
(it was fortunate the puncture was almost dead center),
and that the nail didn't penetrate all the way through to the inner side

led me to the conclusion that applying tubeless tape would do the trick.
I applied the tape over a fairly wide area to prevent it from peeling back,
though I probably could have been more precise with placement.
This rim is 2WAY-FIT, so it would work with tubeless tires too.
The customer is using it with a tube and WO tire (clincher), and plans to continue doing so.

Completely unrelated, but the original Shamal Ultra tubular rim
that we use on our tubular tire stretcher machine

has holes drilled in it—the same size holes as on a standard rim—to allow for quick nipple changes.
We also have the WO rim version and sometimes swap them around,
but we use the WO rim without drilling holes in it.
Assembly time starting from a fully disassembled WO rim is considerably faster.

Compared to the hole in the rim's outer edge,
the nail puncture in this case—based on its size and where it penetrated—
doesn't warrant rim replacement.
