Racing 1 2WAY-FIT Rear Wheel

A customer dropped off a Racing 1 rear wheel for repair.

A spoke snapped with a loud crack during riding, but

there are traces of deformation before the break,
so it looks like it was holding on for a while before finally failing.

All fixed.
The reason there are two pieces of tape marking the removed spoke is

this is an older rear hub from before the ultra-high-flange design,
so to replace a spoke on the porcupine side,
I had to temporarily remove the opposing spoke from the other side
since they overlap at the base.

But this wheel needed more than just spoke replacement:

I replaced the entire bearing set on the left side of the hub shell and the bearings on the outside of the freewheel body.

↑The cone is pitted. The ball bearings are dull and discolored.

↑The cup is also pitted.
The right side of the hub shell wasn't in great shape either, but not damaged enough to require replacement,
and replacing just the bearings on the left side and freewheel body
improved the rough, grinding rotation to nearly new condition,
so I stopped there this time.
The original cone and cup were black, but I used the later silver-colored ones for the repair,
so I don't think they'll pit like this again.

↑In the cross-section, the darkened area is the crack that had been spreading,
and the white area is where it finally broke on the last impact.
