I'd be admitting defeat, but as the title suggests, that's exactly what happened.
As usual (→here) a Home Pie ear (mimi, a Japanese snack) was included,
and this time it was a black Home Pie ear with chocolate flavor.
I kept the name hidden in that linked post, but I just blew my cover with this whole thing.
