Wheels again today (and so on).

Continuing from the other day.
I'm rebuilding the SES 2.2 rear wheel with an SES 4.5 rim.

ENVE carbon hub 24H. Based on the hole pattern it's technically 2-cross, but due to the hub flange hole spacing it's effectively equivalent to 3-cross.
The history of this rear wheel is a bit complicated, but for details (→here).

All built up.

Black half-Champion Italian lacing pattern, same as the original configuration.
No tied-and-soldered nipples per the customer's request.

I might never use it again, but I carefully disassembled the wheel and salvaged the black CX-RAY spokes.
They retail for ¥16,000 pre-tax, so I hesitate to just cut them off willy-nilly even if the next wheel doesn't need them.

For the rear wheel, the reversed spokes (RL, right side rear) are marked "反" and the regular spokes are marked "ぬ" to distinguish them.
I wrote them in hiragana because "反" and "ヌ" look so similar it's easy to confuse them.
The freewheel side spokes are black Champion, but

there's no issue shortening plain spokes, so I reused them.
First I removed the reversed spokes as shown in the image above, cut them to length, put them back on the hub, then cut the regular spokes too.
With this rim swap, the new rim is actually taller, but since the 2.2 is a tubeless rim and the 4.5 is a tubular rim, a taller rim height doesn't necessarily mean a heavier rim weight.
When I converted the rear wheel to half-Champion before, I didn't measure the rim weight (I could have since I did a complete disassembly to change from reverse Italian to Italian lacing rather than just disassembling the freewheel side), but this time I figured it was a good opportunity to weigh all the rims.

Also, the 4.5 is older in terms of vintage.
The valve hole sticker with "Handmade in USA" on one side and serial number on the other is an earlier format,

and in later versions both sides say "Handmade in USA".
What? You want me to tell you the rim weights already?
Like I'd just give that away for free.
Think about it a little, why don't ya.
↑ Man, that's a real jerk move.

Sorry for the wait!
Please have a look at this image!
