I Rebuilt Lightning's Alpine Wheels (Part 1)

Today it's wheels again (and so on).

Our shop doesn't carry Novatech products.
These are all customer-supplied components.
Since I just wrote a hub verification article, I thought
I might not be able to build wheels today, but that turned out not to be the case.

I ended up rebuilding Lightning's Alpine wheels.

The hubs front and rear are both Chenghao (very similar to American Classic), so they're basically the same thing.
I haven't mentioned this before, but these hubs tend to have bearing wear that comes early,
their waterproofing is poor, so they have a very short lifespan.
You can make them last if you maintain them frequently, but
many other manufacturers' hubs are nearly maintenance-free,
so if you use them like those other wheels,
the grease around the freewheel pawls will quickly emulsify from water seeping in,
or the shielded bearings will rust inside.

Looking at the brake zone on the rim, the rim is still perfectly usable,
so I went ahead and rebuilt it.

Built it up.

The accent color on the hub matches the sticker color on the rim,
so you'd think it was originally like this.

The customer wanted full CX-RAY spokes both front and rear,
but I'm out of stock in the lengths we need for those. My bad.
I thought I might not be able to build wheels today, but that turned out not to be the case.
