I took in a wheel rebuild job for a PLANET X.

Looks like an F2R, doesn't it.

But the specs are different.
It had the company's hub laced tangent with Revolution spokes,
but they wanted it rebuilt radial with Nupoke spokes and as much tension as possible.

Even though the butted section is only 1.5mm, they're straight gauge spokes,
and when the crossing point is close to the hub, the spoke gets a bit wobbly at its exit.
I thought six-cross instead of four-cross would be better,
but with a 20-hole front wheel that's impossible.
So I guess this is just unavoidable.

During the initial Nupoke radial lacing, the spokes describe a parabola.

Got it nice and tight.

All built up.

I paid careful attention to spoke tension.
But it's light. The lack of weight when you hold it is abnormal.
I've written this several times before, but unless specified otherwise,
I don't do Nupoke radial lacing.
If the hub conditions allow for true Nupoke through-lacing,
I always do it on my own wheels,
but I think the merits and drawbacks are evenly balanced.
Earlier today I had a phone conversation with someone from a distributor about things not really related to work,
and apparently the EDGE wheel I built was Nupoke through-laced.
...Sorry about that. It seems I sometimes do it without being asked.
When someone says to "leave it to you" or "I'll trust your judgment" on a wheel build,
I sometimes build it Nupoke, so if you have preferences,
please specify whether you want Nupoke or non-Nupoke.
