Another day working on wheels (and so on).

A customer brought in an Easton EC90SL rear wheel for me to work on.
The rim is tubular.

The hub is an R4SL, and true to its name it has a short lifespan, so
the bearing rotation has gotten rough and grinding.
I presented the customer with two options and their respective costs and lead times:
replace the bearings on this hub, or rebuild the wheel with a different hub.
They chose the rebuild.

But you have to pay attention to whether it's 24H or not. This one turned out to be 24H.
High-rimmed models do have 20H rear wheels available,
but there aren't any 20H rear hubs in stable supply right now,
so rebuilding those isn't possible.
Just by coincidence, yesterday I was asked to rebuild
a WH-7950-C24 carbon tubular rear wheel,
but the hub isn't available so it couldn't be done.
It's not so much that I want to fix crappy wheels—
it's more that I want to do something about their crappy response to not supporting 11-speed conversion,
even if by unofficial means,
but without a 20H rear hub available, there's nothing I can do.

Got it built.

Evolite hub, 24H, semi-competition 4-cross lacing with spoke nipples visible.
