F4R Japan Limited

A customer brought in an F4R from FF Yamaguchi—a Japan-limited model that appears to have been inspired by the Japanese flag.

Since the wheel itself doesn't have much value as a topic,
I didn't take a full wheel photo.

It looked like there was a history of amateur truing attempts,
and the rear wheel had an impossible amount of centering offset.
After I fixed it, I showed the customer the results, so I didn't photograph that state.

These spokes are built with red Aero Lite spokes, a color variant of the DT white Aero Lite spokes from the previous post.
According to the manufacturer's manual, white and red shouldn't be laced in the final cross,
but this F4R has them laced that way.
Not only is all-Aero Lite four-cross lacing a bit loose,

The paint finish was already peeling off easily like eggshell, and
as a result of lacing them in contact with the final cross,
the color has chipped off at almost every final crossing point.
Also, if you look at the opening image, you can tell that
the paint on the spoke heads peels off easily too.
Looking at the bare areas, they've painted red over silver spokes, but
I think it would peel off less easily if they painted it over black spokes instead.
But if they did that, the cost of painting silver spokes black plus painting them red on top
would probably push individual spokes to around 1000 yen each.
