Bora Ultra 35

A customer brought in a Bora Ultra 35 for repair.

The cosmetics differ from the standard model—
this is a custom-spec wheel that came with a Canyon Movistar Team replica color complete bike.
It's a tubular rim setup, but tubular wheels on modern complete bikes are probably pretty rare these days.

Fulcrum's spare parts catalog has a "Custom Wheels" section at the back
with detailed specs for custom wheels from 2013 onwards,
but Campagnolo doesn't have that information listed.

In the photo above, you can see two spokes with marker tape that are bent—
the tension was removed to make the damage visually apparent.

Fixed it.

The damaged spokes were on the same side, but it's odd how
despite being pretty clearly bent, they weren't consecutive.

Now for the rear wheel.
Looks like someone botched a truing job and twisted the spokes.

On the freehub side, the two spokes on either side of the G3's rest phase were twisted.
The nipples were also stripping, so they need replacing too.

Bola wheels don't tend to lose true under normal use conditions without crashes or external impact.
Even if they do develop some runout, tightening the non-freehub side usually solves it nearly completely.
The tightening of the non-freehub side pulls the rim to the left, and over time the rim naturally drifts right—
these usually balance out, requiring almost no truing work. You end up with the long-term center-drift
being the dominant factor most of the time.

What I'm getting at is: the fact that someone started fiddling with the freehub-side nipples first shows zero sense,
and the fact that they twisted the spokes and stripped the nipples on 2 out of 2 spots they touched—
that's 100% failure rate—is just embarrassing.
By the way, the customer who brought this in
isn't the original owner of this wheel.

The twisted section didn't straighten back out, nor did it snap off,
and the threads weren't seized, so they came loose pretty easily.
But honestly, I can't figure out how someone could twist the spokes and strip the nipples
in this condition in the first place.
