Another wheel day (and so on).
A customer left me a Roval CL50.
Today I'm rebuilding the front wheel.
21H all-black Campagnolo Record straight spokes, 2:1 lacing
Equivalent to a 4-cross lacing pattern.
Rebuilt.
Rebuilt with black half CX sprint straight spokes.
I'll do the spoke wrapping later.
The nipples could be turned from the outer edge side too,
but since the CL uses brass nipples,
I've swapped them out for universal aluminum nipples.
The tubeless tape wasn't DT-made with Roval markings on it,
but rather yellow Stans tape wrapped in two layers.
It looked like a tire lever had caught it—the second layer
was wrinkled in places. For the sake of my work, I peeled it off.
The underside of the tape showed sealant seepage and dried residue.
Some of it had gotten into the rim too,
The sealant moisture had corroded the nipples.
This is a photo of the particularly severe ones
(though that's roughly half of the 21 nipples).
The corroded nipples were concentrated on one half,
so it was either the section near where the tape leaked sealant,
or the ground-contact side where the wheel was left sitting
for a while after the leak occurred.
