A customer left me a 38mm tall tubeless carbon rim to work with.

I built a front wheel for rim brakes.

There's a reason why there's been a gap since the day I built the matching rear wheel (here).

The ceramic bearings that came in the hub had a gritty rotation, so at the customer's request I swapped them out for steel ball bearings (the image above is after the swap).

The inside of the hub shell is cylindrical and uses a snap ring seated in a groove cut into the interior—much like the original BB30—to hold the bearing seats in place.
The part of the snap ring where the pliers grip was catching on the bearing's inner race, and standard bearing removal tools wouldn't get a clean bite on it. So I ended up making a custom tool that works properly.
