Complete Spoke and Nipple Replacement on the Vittoria Illusion Nero Rear Wheel

Another wheel day (and so on...).

Continuing from yesterday.
Completely replacing the spokes and nipples on the rear wheel of a Vittoria Illusion Nero.

For the work, I need to remove the sprocket, but
this freebody has a loose locknut fit,
so the sprocket-mounted freebody comes off easily under its own weight.
Just tilting the wheel to the right and jiggling it lightly up and down
is enough to make the sprocket-mounted freebody
drop right onto the floor.

So if you're storing this in a wheel bag,
I strongly recommend putting the quick release through it.
Otherwise, inside the wheel bag
the freebody will drop with a thud,
and the sprocket teeth might scratch the rim.

While not quite as loose as this wheel,
similar situations can happen with
rear wheels built with a PowerTap hub.
Given how widely distributed they are,
there are probably more real-world cases of freebodies dropping inside bags
with PowerTap than with this hub.

The rear wheel rim is an offset rim, so
the holes on the inner circumference of the rim are offset to the left.
Yet the holes on the outer circumference of the rim
are drilled dead center for both left and right spokes,
so due to the spoke's angle of incidence, the nipple position
doesn't sit near the center of the outer hole.

↑These are the exact same condition shot from 2 different angles, but
the tool for turning the internal nipple
scrapes roughly against the edge of the hole,
making the workability pretty terrible.

This rim is also tubeless-ready,
but the fact that the bead seat bumps—
the hump width—differ left to right
doesn't seem to be because
it's an offset rim...
so the reason is unclear.

Built it back up.

2:1 lacing with a 21H hub—
quite high-low flanges.

I was planning on reverse half-CX Sprint spokes—
CX-RAY on the freewheel side / CX Sprint on the outpoke side
(13% spoke weight difference)—but
the rim turned out heavier than expected, so
I thought pursuing stiffness over lightness was the better call.
Went with CX Sprint on the freewheel side / Champion on the outpoke side instead,
for a 22% spoke weight difference.
The lacing pattern... doesn't really matter either way.

This rim has the brake zone
protruding even further beyond the rim sidewall,
giving it excellent braking longevity,
but in exchange the rim, for its height, isn't particularly light,
and especially the rear rim, being offset,
is noticeably heavier compared to the front rim.
As for actual weight, I'm not telling.
