Another wheel day (and so on).

A customer left me with a Shimano WH-7801-SL
rear wheel for work.

This was the world's first road tubeless wheel,
and the only compatible tire at the time was
Hutchinson's (as they were called back then)
Fusion 2 Tubeless—so initially it could only be used
in that specific combination.
This wheel is unique in that the model designation
ends in SL rather than TL.
Possibly because the rim material is
scandium aluminum alloy.

The brake zone is worn,
so the customer wants the rim replaced.

20 spokes, radial lacing on the freewheel side
equivalent to a 0-4 pattern,

with hub-end nipples.

The hexagonal nipples on the rim side are fully
tightened first, and then the hub-side nipples are used
for final tensioning and truing adjustments.
These hub-side nipples were completely seized,
so I couldn't recover all the original spokes.

I rebuilt it using a Tni AL22W rim.

I went with CX Sprint / CX-RAY spokes
in a left-right different-diameter lacing pattern.
I made spokes with threading on both ends,
fixed the hub-side nipples with threadlocker,
and do the adjustments with standard rim-side nipples.

Since the original rim was an offset rim,
I went with an offset-spec AL22W rim as well.
