R-SYS SLR

I received an R-SYS SLR from a customer.

This one has a different hub spec than the R-SYS SLR I worked on the other day (more on that below).
Both wheels had some lateral offset,
but I was able to work on the rear wheel without removing the freewheel cassette.

↑The offset was pretty substantial,
but the lateral runout was nicely dialed in,
so I was able to center it just by tightening on the freewheel side.

With a normal wheel, having the rim offset toward the freewheel side is great news.
It lets me tighten up the non-freewheel side where spoke tension is lower.
But with the R-SYS, I actually prefer when the rim drifts toward the non-freewheel side.
It can save me the hassle of removing the freewheel cassette during centering work
(which means breaking down the rear hub).

The R-SYS SLR from the other day was the press-fit type,
but this one uses a dedicated cone wrench-style tool for bearing adjustment.
Going with the press-fit design does simplify the structure and saves weight,
but it's only about 10 grams.
And that's minimal weight savings on the hub itself (inner rim area).
It's not worth ditching an important function for such a marginal gain,
so Mavic wheels with the six-hole cone wrench design are my recommendation.
