Noma Lab Wheels Price Increase (Third Price Revision)

Regarding the Noma Lab wheels we sell at our shop,
we will be increasing prices starting April 2nd, 2018.
We're not doing this on April 1st to avoid people thinking it's an April Fools' joke.
Orders placed before April 2nd will be fulfilled at the pre-increase prices.

The reasons for the price increase are as follows:
・Aluminum rim prices have risen
The Kinrin aluminum rims that are materials for Noma Lab wheels No.1/4/5,
specifically the Tni brand AL300 and AL22 (equivalent to XR300 and XR200 respectively)
have gone up ¥600 (before tax) since the middle of last year.
We source Kinrin rims directly from the manufacturer,
and we've experienced a similar price increase.

・Hub prices have risen
I'll research and update the specific timing later,
but the Tni Evo-Lite hub retail price (before tax)
has increased by ¥1000 each for both front and rear hubs.
For orders placed before the price increase, the wholesaler kindly allowed us to keep the old price,
but we've long since used up that stock.
For the Leaf hubs we source independently,
since they were already about ¥1000 more expensive than the Evo-Lite hubs,
I negotiated to match the prices,
so after this price increase, there will be no price difference between the Evo-Lite and Leaf hubs.

Addendum: We sourced 28 front and 28 rear hubs on January 16th, 2014 at the old price.
After using up that stock, I've been covering the ¥1000 per hub difference myself.

・Consumption tax has increased
Starting April 1st, 2014, consumption tax went from 5% to 8%,
but Noma Lab wheels were still being sold at 5% consumption tax
(at the old price list) rates.
In June 2015, I was planning to at least reflect the consumption tax difference in the price,
but ultimately didn't.

Also, spokes and nipples have seen minor price increases too.

Conversely, the carbon rims for Noma Lab wheels No.2/2.5/3 saw a slight price reduction last year,
and when I calculated it, the price difference almost exactly offset
this Noma Lab wheels price increase,
so the wheel prices are essentially unchanged.
The No.2.5 rim became ¥1000 more expensive (before tax) than the No.2 rim
(they used to be the same price),
but I'm adjusting that to match the No.2 rim price.

Next, I'll list the new price chart below,
but recently we most often assemble wheels with:
Front wheel: 20H CX-RAY
Rear wheel: 24H semi-comp (Competition on free side / CX-RAY on non-free side)
so I'll only list the pricing for that specification.
Of course, wheels can be assembled with different spoke specifications and spoke counts.
Also, for Noma Lab wheel No.3, the old price chart calculated everything with full CX,
but in practice we almost always assemble with CX-RAY front and semi-comp rear,
so I'm listing that specification's price.

The specifications in the price chart are for silver spokes/silver nipples.
When changing to black spokes:
CX-RAY difference of ¥80 per spoke × 32 spokes (20 front + 12 rear) = +¥2560,
Comp or Champ difference of ¥40 per spoke × 12 spokes = +¥480,
totaling +¥3040.

When switching to colored nipples:
Brass nipples and silver aluminum nipples are ¥0,
but when changing to colored aluminum nipples at ¥40 per nipple × 44 nipples =
+¥1760.
Colors are black, red, blue, green, gold, purple, and turquoise in DT manufacture,
and only orange uses Sapim. Starting August 1st, 2018, they will be ¥50 per nipple.

Noma Lab Wheel No.6
For specifications, initial version is (→here)
Current latest is (→here), but the specs differ slightly (→here).
The Reynolds 32mm deep model "THIRTY TWO" was discontinued,
so the rim manufacturer began selling that rim as a generic/unbranded product.
Since the rim doesn't come with brake shoes, they're sold separately,
but I can't just say "Reynolds brake shoes work!" — I needed to test
which brake shoes are actually compatible.
It took over a year before I could definitively state
that Swissstop Black Prince brake shoes work without issue.
So please purchase Black Prince brake shoes separately.
Front wheel ¥78,200
Rear wheel ¥89,800

Noma Lab Wheel No.7
Initial introduction is (→here)
Reynolds has the right to preferentially select raw rims from that rim manufacturer,
and from four carbon tubeless-ready rim depths,
they select the 29/41/62mm models
and sell wheels under the model names "Attack," "Assault," and "Strike,"
The 35mm depth rim that wasn't selected (so we can purchase it) became
the rim for Noma Lab Wheel No.7.
The rim depth and weight fall between Attack and Assault, with actual measured weight of 435g.
I've only built one sample rim set so the price is undecided,
but it's expected to be about ¥10,000 more per wheelset than Noma Lab Wheel No.6.

Regarding Orders
In the previous price chart article,
I wrote "if you leave a comment, I'll reply,"
but I simply can't keep up. I'm doing my best to reply even on days off,
but it's impossible. I'm at my limit. I sincerely apologize.
I'm fully aware that comments go unanswered and the business opportunities lost are countless,
but if I dedicate myself to this task alone,
I won't be able to do anything else.
So, I deeply apologize, but please order Noma Lab wheels either
by visiting in person or by phone.
I cannot reply to the order comments I'm currently receiving.
As for calling, I often don't answer (can't answer) when I'm working.
I'm not intentionally ignoring calls.
The phone number is in the upper left of this blog.
As for delivery time, currently it's about 4 months.
It may extend further due to orders placed before this price increase.

Thank you for your understanding.
