Rebuilt Ultra-Lightweight Chinese Carbon Hookless Tubeless Rim Wheel

Another day with wheels (and so on).

A customer brought in a rear wheel with a rim in the 270g range
that we built about half a year ago
(→here).
They had a flat on a descent, and unfortunately the rim got bent up
when it fell into a hole.

it's actually the rim that's bent.

Since we got a replacement rim, I'll rebuild it with that.

In the process of moving the rim over...
I can partially see the model number of the old rim,
which I think means
"manufacturer abbreviation–25mm internal width MTB rim–29 inch,"
but it probably won't show up in a search.
I know the reason why, but I won't say.

After moving the rim over, I tried to build it up with final tightening,
but the spokes were clearly too long, so
I took a closer look at the rim and found that
the old rim was 22mm high, while the new one was 25mm high.
According to the customer, they changed where they bought the rim
and thought they were getting the same one, but didn't realize the rim height was different.

Well, can't be helped.
The spokes on the drive side can't be reused unless the rim has
the same or nearly the same internal diameter, so I cut them off.
It was a half-competition lacing, so the freewheel side had black competition spokes,
but since they wanted to increase the spoke weight on both sides during the rebuild,
I cut and discarded the black competition spokes too.

Built it up.

48-spoke JIS lacing with internal connecting. Actually, this rear wheel is used on an e-bike (not the opposite of a bad bike),
and when climbing under electric assist, the wheel performs best when it's as stiff as possible,
so within the range of steel spokes, I aimed for something close to perfectly rigid.
