I rebuilt the front wheel with CL50 for rim brakes

Wheels again today (and so on).

The other day I rebuilt the rear wheel on this CL50,
and now I'm rebuilding the front wheel too.

This is typical of manufacturers obsessed with aerodynamics as the primary factor,
but even at 50mm height, 16 spokes is quite few.
These spokes are DT's "Competition Race,"
where the butted section in the center is 1.8mm
(compared to 2.0mm for Competition base 14g at both ends),
whereas Revolution base 14g is 1.5mm,
but Competition Race comes in at 1.6mm—
so it's actually a spoke closer to Revolution despite the "Competition" name.
The similarity isn't just in dimensions; a 1.6mm round cross-section
is a gauge that causes the dreaded "wobbly" effect
except in cases where rim-side thresholds are low, like old ultra-low-profile aluminum rims.
In that sense, Competition Race sits on the far side of the watershed
where wobble can occur within normal parameters—
it's definitely a Revolution-leaning spoke.
With 28 holes or more, you could keep tension low per spoke,
so it's not completely unusable, but...

The customer's main concern from the feel while riding is the rear wheel,
but after consulting, we decided to rebuild the front as well.

The original spokes: 256mm × 16 spokes = 75.3g,
so the spoke specific gravity is 75.3÷16÷256÷0.0257 =
0.7153225..., or about 71.5%.

CX-RAY is about 64.5%, so purely on spoke specific gravity,
Competition Race should make for a stiffer wheel,
but CX-RAY doesn't produce wobble
(strictly speaking, the rim cracks or nipple threads strip before it can)
so actually CX-RAY allows you to build a stiffer wheel overall.
The original front wheel is tensioned appropriately for Competition Race,
so the manufacturer clearly took care
not to push into the wobble threshold.

All built.

Rebuilt with black CX Sprint straight spokes.
I mentioned CX-RAY earlier for comparison,
but if CX Sprint is an option for 16 holes,
there's no need to use CX-RAY.

Roval rims tend to have little variation in actual weight,
and while I haven't tested dozens or hundreds,
rim brake rims might be slightly heavier than disc brake rims on average.
Though this rim might just happen to feel that way.
What? You want me to tell you the actual weight?
I'm not giving that away for free.
↑Hey, what's with this attitude?

Sorry for the wait! Please take a look at these images!

It's the rear rim!

It's the front rim!
