Built a Front Wheel with a 24mm High Carbon WO Rim

Another day of wheel building (et cetera).

This is the rim for Nomu Lab Wheel No. 2, but

it's an Equinox WH199 model
branded with a Tni sticker.
I'm not sure if other brands sell the WH199 rim besides Tni,
or if there's an exclusive contract.
The WH199 is 20.5mm wide, but
the older Nomu Lab Wheel No. 2 rim was the WH007
which was 19.1mm wide.
I've seen examples of the WH007 being sold
under brands other than Tni.
Though it was the original Equinox brand (→here).

The 24R means it's the rear rim for the 24H,
and there don't appear to be any special drilling or offset,
but since it's designated for the rear, the freewheel body orientation is specified.
The serial number I'm deliberately showing on the right edge—
the 21 at the beginning indicates it was manufactured in 2021.
This is a serial number embedded in the rim's outer circumference,
and separate from that, a different serial number sticker
is applied to the rim side or inner circumference apex,
and the first two digits of that also indicate the last two digits of the manufacturing year.

Also, it seems the year on the number embedded in the outer circumference
is when the rim was molded,
while the year on the sticker number applied to the rim
is when it was inspected right before shipment,
so the latter number is sometimes from the following year compared to the former.

The first of five warning items is
"Use Equinox brake shoes!"
In reality, due to unstable supply and the feeling of braking performance,
most people end up settling on SwissStop's Black Prince.

A customer gave me an Equinox
carbon WO rim to work with.

The WH175 is a 20H rim that's 24mm high (to be precise, 24.2mm),
and the WH156 is a 24H rim that's 30mm high (to be precise, 29.8mm).

The WH175 shows 2014 on the sticker but
2013 on the rim side.
The WH156 showed 2015 on both.

By the way, current ENVE rims also have
a serial number embedded in the outer circumference and
a serial number on an applied sticker,
but these two are the same numbers.

The warning sticker also has Equinox written on it.
These rims are probably exclusive models with contracts prohibiting sale to other companies.
I can't reveal the rim brand, though.
Depending on the era or model, the Equinox part
is changed to that brand name.
Unrelated to this brand, but ones that have FLO instead (→here).

Since it has an internal nipple, I was going to build it with
Sapim's internal aluminum nipples
(12mm length),

but the outer edge of the nipple slightly protrudes past the rim hole.
Once the rim tape is applied, the nipple will definitely contact it
regardless of air pressure.

With a 24mm high WO rim, because the bead hook is high
and the inner circumference hole is thicker, this happens.
Sapim's internal nipples come in 12mm
and also in 10mm length, but

this time I built it with 10mm brass nipples, as specified by ENVE as well.
Even if I used 5mm hex nipples,
I've confirmed the tool can fit in the outer circumference hole,
but I chose the 3.2mm square nipples instead
as they should offer better maintainability.

Built it.
From the rim-only shot, those in the know can spot the logo,
but the censor is frantically censoring.

White Industries T11 hub 20H
black CX Sprint spoke, reverse-laced radial build.
I don't know what hub was on this rim before (playing dumb),
but the customer must have judged this to be better.

The customer requested black CX-RAY spokes,
but since they weren't too concerned about weight and prioritized stiffness,
I was given final judgment call, so I went with black CX Sprint.
