Bora Ultra 35

Even though I totally bombed it with Comet,
this series seems to continue.
Today I was asked to true and center a new Bora rim height model — the 35mm.
To cut to the chase, there was almost no runout,
but unusually, the rear wheel was centered while the front wheel was off-center.
Usually it's the other way around.

They switched from internal to external nipples.
The tool width is square aluminum nipples in the same size as Shimano.
(Strictly speaking, they might differ by 0.05mm)
The outer rim side (where the tire sits) has no holes except for the valve hole.
The nipples are guided through using magnets.

Mavic's Ksyrium rims have nipple holes only on the inner rim side.
The outer rim has only the valve hole.
In addition to this "nipple holes on inner side only," the fact that "threads are cut directly into the rim" is Mavic's patent.
Six years after Ksyrium came out, some manufacturer called F○○○m released wheels with "inner side nipple holes only."
The fact that they didn't completely copy Mavic's design was a patent-dodging move.
Calling up nipples one by one with a magnet is an unnatural and poor-workmanship design, but it can't be helped.
The official line is so that if they get sued and lose, the company can shut down immediately without damaging the reputation of Ka○○○○ (the real power behind it),
but the real reason is so that even Shimano users will buy wheels without resistance.
Oops, I had the official line and real reason backwards.

The left and right flanges on the front wheel and the non-drive side flange on the rear wheel
are unidirectional carbon.
Since carbon rims can withstand spoke tension,
this side can be made of carbon too, you see.

From what I hear, this wheel
has better braking power than the previous Bora and Hyperon models.

Edit:
You might not believe it, but before posting this article,
I cut a huge chunk of the content (and this is what's left).
Phew, that was close.

Edit to the edit:
Someone commented: "My Shimano tubeless wheels have threads cut in them too..."

Yeah, that's precisely the part I cut out (laughs).
Mavic's patent period might have expired,
or this might be included in the patents that jiri krampela wheels hold
(the latter is probably about offset rims though)

And then Bontrager used to... wait, what are you doing, stop st
